Fruit exports in Shaanxi Province surged in the first half of the year

In the first half of this year, Shaanxi’s fruit exports reached 112,400 tons, valued at 844 million yuan (approximately US$120.7 million), an increase of 86.49% and 66.13% year-on-year respectively.

Shaanxi is a major fruit-growing province in China. It produces more than 10 million tons of apples every year, accounting for one-seventh of the global share. It is also one of the world's major kiwifruit producing areas.

According to data from Xi’an Customs, from January to June this year, Shaanxi exported 17,900 tons of fresh fruits worth 136 million yuan, an increase of 14.92% and 12.14% respectively over the same period of the previous year.

The export of fresh apples, pears and kiwis accounted for 98.43% of the export of fresh fruits in Shaanxi province. Among them, the export of fresh apples increased by 11.86% to 128 million yuan, and the export of fresh pears and kiwifruit increased by 112% and 92%, respectively, reaching 66 million yuan and 6.56 million yuan.

Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Indonesia are Shaanxi’s five largest export markets, accounting for 92.63% of Shaanxi’s total fresh fruit exports.

The export of apple juice and processed fruit products has also seen rapid growth. In the first half of this year, Shaanxi sold 695 million yuan worth of apple juice to overseas markets, a year-on-year increase of 85.7%. At the same time, 647 tons of processed fruits were exported, an increase of 52.83% over the same period last year.
